Take a trip to Thailand (5) Itinerary and Transportation

This week I’ll begin with how we went to Asiatique The Riverfront on the second of our graduation trip to Thailand.

Chao Phraya Express Boat

To go to Asiatique The Riverfront, we took Chao Phraya Express boat. Here is the link of the route of Bangkok public transportation. (http://www.transitbangkok.com/images/BTS_MRT_Chao_Phraya_Express_Khlong.png)
Chao Phraya Express Boat is a kind of public transportation in Bangkok. There are several station beside Chao Phraya River (昭披耶河). Taking the boat from evening to night, we feasted our eyes on the beautiful sunset and scenic night scene beside Chao Phraya River. We arrive at Saphan Station, and there is a shuttle boat to Asiatique The Riverfront for free.

Train

We went to Ayutthaya by train. To buy the tickets, just go to the counter and tell the clerk which train you want to take. The train we took is like local train (區間車) in Taiwan, there is no seat number on the tickets. Like Taiwanese train, there are also some people selling food, such as fruit, grilled meat.

Tuk-Tuk (嘟嘟車)

As I mentioned in my third article of this series, we charter tuk-tuk to travel around Ayutthaya. The things I would like to point out here is that the tuk-tuk we took in Ayutthaya is a little different from Bangkok: tuk-tuk in Bangkok is like three-wheel motorbike, while tuk-tuk in Ayutthaya is like a little truck with four wheels and steering wheel. It is quite convenient to take tuk-tuk, but don’t forget to have a bargain with the driver before you take it.

BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System)

We took BTS from JJ Green night market to Big C. Big C is known as Thai Carrefour, it is a great place to buy Thai snacks or medicine at relatively low price. BTS is like Taipei MRT, but it is not as convenient as Taipei MRT. For example, you only could buy one ticket once from the machine. Another interesting things I would like to share is that the escalator there is really fast!

Hope you enjoy reading this. If you want to know in detail or have any question about our trip, please leave a comment and I’ll try my best to answer you. Thanks for reading my blog!

  2. I remember that the Chao Phraya River is a very important river in Thailand. It is the longest river there and it provides Thailand with a fertile land to plant crops. It was taught in geography class during high school lol.
I guess it must be a wonderful experience enjoying the sunset and the night scenes on a boat! There are less chances in Taiwan to do so since Taiwan lacks of big rivers.
To my surprise, there are so many kinds of transportation in Thailand. I used to think that there are only taxi, buses, and trains. XD The tuk-tuk is really cute haha. Isn't it very hot to take the tuk-tuk especially in summer? It seems that the tuk-tuk doesn't have an air con....

By the way, I wonder how fast the escalator is lol. Perhaps I can give it a try when I have the chance to visit Bangkok in the future haha.

    1. There is a shade in the back of tuk-tuk, and you could enjoy the wind while you are taking it, so i think it is not so hot.
