After introducing Tainan for three weeks, I
would like to share another fascinating tourist attraction in Taiwan. In the
following week, I will introduce some places in eastern Taiwan.
Taitung City
The first place I would like to talk about
is Taitung City which is located in the southeast corner of Taiwan. I have been
to Taitung for four times during this three years. With fresh air, gorgeous
scenery and fancy delicacies, Taitung City is a great place to visit.
Local Delicacy
When it comes to the local delicacy in
Taitung city, the first dish comes to my mind is silver needle noodles, and
Taiwanese always called it Mi Shai Mu (米苔目). Silver needle
noodles are made of rice milk and yam powder, which are traditional dishes form
the Hakkas. As for the taste of silver needle noodles, they are shorter,
thicker and chewier than normal noodles. Personally, I prefer silver needle
noodles than normal ones.
Lao Dong Tai (老東台)
Lao Dong Tai is one of the famous
restaurants serving silver needle noodles in Taitung. However, I felt
disappointed when I sampled the silver needle noodles there since they are too
greasy for me. Having a sweet tooth, I like the sweet ones.
Bao Sang Tangyuan(寶桑湯圓)
Tangyuan is a traditional food in Taiwan
which is usually in white or pink, looks like a ball and taste chewy. Today I don’t
introduce tangyuan; instead, I would like to focus on the restaurant. To be
honest, I don’t think there is any special in the tangyuan offered by Bao Sang Tangyuan.
The thing I would like to share is the “crispy tanyuan.” The taste of crispy
tanyuan did hit my spot and I still cannot forget it.
When you come to the restaurant, you can
choose which kind of ingredients you want to eat, and the things you choose
will covered by shelved ice when you have it.

回覆刪除The last time I visited there is about a decade ago lol. I haven't been there for such a long time. In fact, I only remember the Chu Lu Ranch. The animals there are really adorable, and it is a perfect refuge from the hustling and bustling city, but I guess it has already changed a lot since I haven't gone there for almost ten years.
Perhaps I should plan to visit Taitung with my friends during the vacation, especially when the air quality is terrible in the western Taiwan!
I am looking forward to your other introduction of Taitung! The local delicacy you introduced looks really delicious, but to be honest, I have never eaten 米苔目 before lol.
I also went to Chu Lu Ranch last year. However, I felt disappointed about it. The price is not cheap, but there were not many interesting things there. In my opinion, Luye Highlands(鹿野高台) is a better place to visit.
刪除I really like to go to Taitung. Not only Taitung has many delicious food, but there are also have many beautiful scenery. Taitung is really a natural place. Every time I visit Taitung, many annoying things will be disposed during the short time until I come back home. It is a relaxed place for people who live in the city~

刪除I have never been to Taichung before but I actually have a friend who live in Taichung and she keep telling me about it and inviting me to visit it in the next summer vacation.
回覆刪除So I've heard a lot about the National Taichung theater and Tunghai University (she told me that they have a cattle ranch inside the school), but I have never heard about the food because she thinks that the local delicacy in Tainan is far better XD
Actually, the place I talked about is "Taitung" which is in the eastern Taiwan. I suppose the place you mentioned, Taichung is in the western Taiwan. Anyway, both of the place are interesting, and I suggest you could go there to know more about Taiwan.
